Joshua Tree

We love the desert. I grew up in San Diego with friends who owned property and loved to play out in Borrego and Ocotillo. Since moving to California Kimberly has developed a love for the desert that I understand.

And yet neither of us had visited Joshua Tree National Park. So we did and it was amazing. It was a wonderful drive and with so many great places to stop to soak in the sand, the silence, the heat and the surroundings in general.

One thing we learned is that the entrance on the north side of the park and that upper half is definitely the more scenic (in the sense of being surrounded by Joshua Trees). The southern half of the park has less Joshua Trees (but there is a killer Cholla patch). The entire park is gorgeous.

So yes, even at the end of July at nearly the height of the hot season there Joshua Tree is an incredible place to visit. You can tell from the photos our visit started late in the afternoon and we stayed into the evening and found the climate just fine. Stay in the shade. Drink plenty of water.
