We decided to go to Lake Tahoe for Kimberly’s birthday. If she had not been sick as hell this would have been a brilliant weekend as the hotel was great and the weather was wonderful. As it was, we spent almost of the time in the room watching terrible TV hoping she would feel better.
So the good parts. Kimberly booked un into the 3 Peaks Resort and Beach Club. It’s not quiter a bougie as it may sound. The hotel rooms themselves are nice but not spectacular in any way and the beach club part comes into play as the vast majority of Tahoe beaches have some kind of restricted access. 3 Peaks maintains some connection and provides passes to a local beach for guests. They are dog friendly charging $25 per dog for your entire stay. Our room had a fireplace which, since we were more or less trapped there, we very much appreciated.
Parking could be a tough, under other circumstances but we would definitely go back to their reasonable dog charges and the fireplace. The hotel is well located being about three short blocks the heart of South Lake, about the same distance from the Nevada state line.
The drive was boring as we took the inland route as opposed to the 395. Since we had planned on running the Tioga Pass on the way home, we gave up some scenic for the easier and quicker route.
While most of the foods in Tahoe is priced for the wealthy, I did manage to find one place that, while not cheap, had amazing burgers and great service. Tahoe Bros Charbroiled Burgers (2660 Lake Tahoe Blvd, Ste 11, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150). Do check them if you visit.
As usual, the Cross’s MPG was a disappointing 34 MPG. We still, especially Kimberly, very much enjoy this car even with its foibles.
